Jewellery Care
Simple tips to keep your jewellery sparkling and lasting a lifetime.
Cleaning Gold Jewellery
Gold jewellery worn regularly collects dust, sweat, and oils over time. Regular cleaning keeps it looking its best.
Prepare a solution
Mix a few drops of mild dish soap in a bowl of lukewarm water. Never use hot water — it can damage gemstone settings.
Soak the jewellery
Place your gold piece in the soapy water and let it soak for 20–30 minutes. This loosens dirt from crevices.
Gently scrub
Use a very soft toothbrush to gently scrub around stones and engravings. Do not scrub aggressively — treat it like a precious heirloom.
Rinse thoroughly
Rinse under lukewarm running water to remove all soap residue.
Pat dry
Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. Never leave jewellery wet — moisture can damage settings over time.
⚠️ Avoid These
Never use lemon juice, vinegar, bleach, chlorine, or toothpaste on gold jewellery. These are acidic or abrasive and can damage the metal and dull gemstones.
Caring for Diamond Jewellery
Diamonds are the hardest natural material, but they still need regular care to maintain their brilliance. Cosmetics, moisturisers, and oils leave a film on diamonds, making them appear cloudy.
- Soak diamond jewellery in mild soapy water for 20–40 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush
- Rinse under warm running water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth
- Avoid harsh chemicals — they can loosen settings and dull the stone
- Remove diamond jewellery before applying makeup, perfume, or moisturiser
- Get diamond jewellery professionally checked once a year to ensure stones are secure in their settings
Storing Your Jewellery
Store separately
Each piece should be stored in its own soft pouch or lined box. Gold can scratch silver and vice versa if stored together.
Use fabric pouches
Soft velvet or fabric pouches prevent scratches and tangles. Avoid plastic bags — they trap moisture.
Avoid sunlight & humidity
Direct sunlight fades gemstones over time. Keep jewellery away from damp bathrooms and humid areas.
Wear regularly
Oddly enough, wearing solid gold and diamond pieces regularly is good for them — natural oils from skin slow tarnish on metals.
When to Remove Your Jewellery
Always remove your jewellery before the following activities to avoid damage:
Chlorine in swimming pools and chemicals in cleaning products react with metals in gold and can cause corrosion and discolouration.
Professional Cleaning
For jewellery with intricate engravings, antique pieces, or heavily tarnished items, professional cleaning is recommended. Our store offers professional cleaning, polishing, and setting inspection to restore your jewellery to its original brilliance. We recommend a professional check-up once a year, especially for diamond and gemstone pieces to ensure stones are secure.
